Kimberly Bell

SITE DIRECTOR / CO-TEACHER

Hello Families, My name is Kimberly and I am so excited to continue this school year as your site director and one of the preschool teachers. In the classroom, I value science exploration and discovery and enjoy supporting children in being curious and fun loving little humans. I love messy play, promoting problem solving with peers and helping children communicate their emotions and becoming their own person. I am excited to bring in my learnings from my recent trip to Reggio Emilia Italy, this school year will be my 8th year working in a preschool setting at schools in both New Hampshire and Vermont.

I hold a Master's Degree in Early Childhood education, a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and my Vermont Teaching license Birth-PreK.

My husband, Dylan and I live in North Ferrisburgh, with our 1 year old daughter Sutton, and our two weiner dogs Conway and Kona. In my free time I enjoy planting, eating popcorn, and spending time with my family! I look forward to spending the school year learning and growing with your kiddo!

Hello, my name is Kylie Scheck and I am thrilled to start my second teaching year at Mary Johnson Child Center. I grew up in East Middlebury and feel very honored to be giving back to the community I came from. I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Keene State College. I worked at Brattleboro retreat’s residential program for children both per diem and full time from 2020-2023.

My husband Robbie and I live in Middlebury Vermont and are still renovating a shuttle bus into a tiny home we hope to use for traveling. We have one dachshund who is a little over two years old and her name is Bijou. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, hand sewing, and being outside. I look forward to meeting new families, seeing old familiar faces, and working together to support your child’s growth and development.

Shannon Whalen

CO-TEACHER PRESCHOOL

Hi! My name is Shannon Whalen! This is my second year at Mary Johnson. This is my seventh year in Early Education. I have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Education Pre-K through Fourth Grade. I graduated from Immaculata University. I am currently working on obtaining my Vermont teaching license. My teaching philosophy centers around creating a warm, inclusive classroom where children feel safe to explore, ask questions and express themselves. Some things about me, I recently got engaged and moved to Vermont! I am getting married in May, at Lake Bomoseen Lodge! I moved from the Philly area, so GO BIRDS! We are wedding planning, that's my main hobby for the moment but typically I love to craft, go for walks, read, and cook. I believe that strong partnerships with families are the key to a child’s success, I look forward to building that connection with you!  Thank you for trusting me with your child’s early years of learning - it is truly a privilege.

Angela Dupoise

CO-TEACHER TODDLERS

Hi! My name is Angela Dupoise. I am going into my second full year at Mary Johnson Children’s Center. I live in New Haven with my boyfriend Collin and kittens Loki and Nala.

I graduated from Castleton University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a concentration in Mathematics and a Minor in Music. I am currently obtaining a Teaching License for Early Childhood Education through the Vermont Agency of Education. I have been working with children since 2014 when I started working with school-age children, and in 2018 I started working in the field of Early Childhood.

In the last year I investigated in greater depth my understanding of the Reggio Emilia Approach and how to bring it into my classroom. In June of 2025 I traveled to Boulder, Colorado with a co-worker from Mary Johnson to strengthen my knowledge and understanding, while collaborating with other early childhood educators and visiting Boulder Journey School, a fully Reggio Inspired School. This year I strive to create a classroom that supports children’s learning and exploration through the Reggio Emilia Approach.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, spending time at the lake, going to the beach, soaking up the sun by the pool, reading, gardening, and tending to my house plants! I absolutely love spending time with my family and friends creating lasting memories.

Hi! My name is Amber Burritt. I have worked at Mary Johnson Children Center for the last eight years. I actually started my teaching journey here at the East Middlebury Cooperative Preschool for the first three years of my time at Mary Johnson. I’m really looking forward to getting back to this sweet, close knit preschool community. I absolutely love getting messy by creating beautiful art and science provocations for the children in my care to explore. I have been an early educator for the past 20 years. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education with a major concentration in Psychology from the University of Vermont. I also continue to engage in regular professional development and trainings to further my teaching knowledge.

My husband Cory, my 10 year old daughter Sadie, and my 7 year old son Charlie live in Monkton, Vermont with our pug Ginger and our cat Figaro. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, reading, and crafting. I’m really excited to get to know all of you!

Hi there, I’m Charlotte! I am very excited to be a part of the Co-op team! I’ve spent just over a year at MJCC’s Main Site and I am looking forward to creating new and close-knit relationships within the Co-op community. I have a passion for exploring the world around us and embracing any & all natural materials. I have been working with children in a variety of settings for over 10 years, and have been working full-time in classroom settings for about 5 years. I currently hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, and I am working toward furthering my education geared toward Early Education.

I grew up in Pittsford, Vermont on my family’s Pumpkin and Christmas Tree farm, and that is where I currently live with my boyfriend Eli and our sweet yellow lab, Ralphie.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, and doing anything that gets me outside & moving. I’ve recently started gardening and I’ve come to love experimenting with new recipes that incorporate home-grown goods.

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone!
