Vermont School Age Care Network (VSACN)
Professional Development Opportunities
The Vermont School Age Care Network is dedicated to increasing opportunities for and improving the quality of school age care in Vermont. School age care is provided to children in grades K-6 during out-of-school time hours, and in some cases to older school age youth. Registered or licensed caregivers provide care in a multitude of settings. While the surroundings may change, all quality programs share the following:
- A safe and nurturing environment
- A respectful and trained staff
- A variety of available age-appropriate activities
- A dedication to meeting the community’s needs
- An availability of healthy, nutritious snacks
- A commitment to communicate with parents
- Technical Support: Curriculum and program assistance to meet state licensing requirements.
3. Accreditation Assistance: Help in taking the steps needed to gain accreditation from the NAA.
- Development Support: Assistance in identifying and securing grants to support programs.
